Added Security and Better Connection with VSAT Systems

The need for companies to be always connected can put them at risk of hacking and data leaks. 2016 saw an increase in ransomware cases where hackers lock data in devices and ask for payment to unlock the encrypted data. Failing to pay the hackers would mean losing all information stored in the devices. VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) systems, however, give companies a better and safer option in conducting their global online transactions.

Singtel Teleport explains that VSAT systems can provide corporations with IP-VPN connectivity. IP-VPN stands for Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network. It works very much like the Virtual Private Network (VPN), allowing employees in different areas to access their company’s network files. Their main differences however are:

  1. IP-VPN uses a private connection to access multiple remote sites, while VPN uses public internet connection and public gateways to give users access to their main network.
  2. IP-VPN uses multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) technology, allowing your company’s internet traffic to be prioritised for better data transmission.

Sounder connectivity

Since VSAT system’s IP-VPN connectivity avoids public gateways, it is more secure and allows companies to exchange confidential data. This is most important for companies with point of sale (POS) transactions since they have to protect both their data and their consumers’ personal information.

Furthermore, using private networks makes you less vulnerable from possible DoS (Denial-of-Service) attacks. DoS attacks can affect your operations as this can prevent legitimate users, like your employees, from accessing your network. The use of a private network can isolate your data from outside traffic and prevent congestion.

Better flow

VSAT gives companies local and international interconnectivity because it can support LAN (local area network) and WAN (wider area network) internetworking. The quality of VSAT system’s data transmission also allows better video conferencing, VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) applications and more.

Cyber-criminals are getting more sophisticated, it is important to invest in structures that will protect your company, employees, and consumers yet allow them to perform unhindered by restrictions.
